What onyx is, and why it glows
Onyx is a banded form of calcite. The bands are thin enough that light travels through them, which no marble does. Cut a slab to 18 or 20mm, put an LED sheet behind it, and the stone turns into a lamp with a pattern nobody can copy — because the pattern is the rock.
It comes in honey, amber, white, green and a deep smoke grey. Every slab is different, and the difference is the point. We show you the actual slab before it is cut, so what you approve is what arrives.
Agate furniture in India, and other semi-precious stone
Agate furniture in India means a piece faced with slices of agate, a banded stone that is harder and far more colourful than onyx. We cut it into small panels and set them into a table top, a drawer front or a door, ringed in brass. Every slice is different, so no two panels repeat.
Petrified wood is a tree that turned to stone over millions of years; cut across the grain it still shows the rings. Selenite and quartz behave the same way. All of these come in small, irregular pieces, so we use them as inlay in a field of marble or dark wood, never as a whole top.
Mother-of-pearl furniture in India, inlaid by hand
Mother-of-pearl furniture in India is furniture inlaid with shell. We cut the lining of the shell into small shapes and set each one by hand into wood, stone or resin. It is not printed and it is not a foil. Each piece is placed one at a time, which is why a panel takes days rather than hours.
It shifts colour as you walk past it, and that movement is what makes a piece feel alive under a lamp. We have set it into coffee tables, a carved centre table, a pedestal side table and a stone dining table.
Living with onyx
Onyx is softer than marble and it does not like acid. Wipe a spill straight away, use a coaster under a glass of lime or wine, and clean it with a soft cloth and warm water. Never use a bathroom cleaner or anything with vinegar or lemon in it.
Sealed properly and looked after, an onyx top lasts decades. We seal every top before it leaves the factory and tell you when to do it again.
Semi-precious stone furniture manufacturer in India, not a slab supplier
Most of what you find searching for semi-precious stone in India is a slab yard. They sell you the stone and stop there. We are a manufacturer: we buy the slab, cut it to your dimension, build the base it sits on, wire the light behind it if it is backlit, seal it, crate it and deliver it.
That matters because a stone top is the easy half. The hard half is the frame that carries it without cracking, the joint where stone meets metal, and getting a heavy, brittle panel into your room intact. We do all of that in one factory, so nobody is blaming anybody else if a corner chips.

What is semi-precious stone furniture in India made from?
Semi-precious stone furniture is furniture faced with onyx, agate, petrified wood, selenite, quartz or mother-of-pearl rather than plain marble. In India we cut those stones into tops, console fronts, bar backs and inlay panels, then set them by hand in our own factory. You approve the actual slab before anything is cut.
What is onyx furniture?
Onyx furniture is furniture built around a slab of onyx — a banded stone that light passes through. It is used for table tops, console fronts, bar backs and headboard panels. Lit from behind, the stone glows from the inside, which no other stone used in furniture does.
Is onyx stronger or weaker than marble?
Softer. Onyx scratches and stains more easily than marble and reacts to anything acidic — lemon, vinegar, wine, most household cleaners. It is a beautiful material that asks to be looked after, which is why we seal it before delivery and use it for surfaces that are looked at more than they are worked on.
Can you backlight an onyx top?
Yes. We build the light into the piece: an LED sheet behind the slab, wired to a switch or a dimmer, with the cable hidden inside the base. Tell us where the power point is and we run the cable to it.
Do I get to choose the actual slab?
Yes, and you should. Every slab of onyx is different — the bands, the colour, where the seams fall. We photograph the slabs we have and send them to you before anything is cut, so you approve the exact stone that becomes your piece.
What does onyx furniture cost?
It depends on the size of the slab, the grade of the stone, and whether the piece is lit. Every piece is made to your room, so we quote after we know the size — in writing, in both ₹ and $, before any work starts.
Is delivery free?
Yes, and it stays free — no end date, no minimum. We deliver your piece to your door anywhere in mainland India, crate, freight, transit cover, e-way bill and GST included. Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep go by sea at actual cost; outside India is quoted per port.
Is there a minimum order for free delivery?
No. There is no minimum, no remote-area fee and no fuel surcharge. One bedside table travels on the same free terms as a twelve-piece bedroom, to Mumbai or to Leh, and the crate is built around your finished piece.
