Indian Bespoke Furniture Manufacturer for Overseas Projects
Designatore is a luxury furniture manufacturer in India. We design and build every piece to order in our own 80,000 sq ft factory, then ship it worldwide — the United States, the United Kingdom, the UAE, Singapore, Australia and Canada included. Delivery inside India is free. Delivery outside India is quoted per port.
Which One Are You?
Both buyers commission the same furniture from the same factory. The making is identical. The delivery, the money and the paperwork are not, so read only your own.

If the furniture is going to a home in India, nothing crosses a border and delivery is free. Someone in Chicago can furnish a parent’s flat in Coimbatore and never see a freight bill. There is no duty, no port and no clearing agent. The crate, the road freight to the door, transit cover for the full value, the e-way bill and the GST on all of it are ours, to any mainland pincode, at any order value.
What replaces standing in the room
- A drawing with every dimension in millimetres, which you approve in writing before anything is cut.
- Film of your actual stone slab, veneer bundle and hides — wet and dry, with a scale rule in frame.
- Physical samples couriered to you, or to the Indian address, so the family sees the fabric before you do.
- Progress photographs from the joinery, polish and upholstery floors, then a video walk around the finished piece.
- Quality-control photographs checked against the drawing you approved, not against somebody’s taste.
- One named person on the project, not a shared inbox.
Three practical notes
- Put one person in India on delivery day, even a neighbour. Someone has to open a door and sign.
- Send photographs of the rooms as they are today, not as they were before the renovation.
- If the house sits empty between visits, say so. A closed house swings wider in humidity than a lived-in one.
₹0
Crated, insured and tax paid. No minimum order, no remote-area fee, no delivery line on the invoice. The Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep are the one exception: cargo sails, billed at actual cost.
Send us your room →There is also a shortcut people forget. Your family in India can come to the factory for you. It is open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 7pm IST, and visitors are welcome. A parent or cousin can walk the ten departments, put a hand on the stone, see the polish in daylight and video-call you from beside your own piece. See what they would walk through on the factory page, or read the long version in our guide to commissioning furniture from abroad. If the project is the whole India home rather than the furniture in it, start with NRI interior design in India.
Sourcing Furniture From India for a Home in Another Country
If the furniture is leaving India, we make it, crate it for sea or air and prepare the export documents. Freight is priced by your destination port, so we quote the furniture and the freight together and you see both numbers before you commit, not after the crate is built. Delivery outside India is worldwide, and it is priced. It is not free, and we will not blur that.
What we do not do is invent your customs bill. Duty is paid by you, in your own country, at your own country’s rate. Furniture sits in HS Chapter 94, and every customs authority publishes its own tariff for those headings. Have a local clearing agent confirm the line for your port before you order, and ask them about destination tax, terminal handling, timber-treatment inspection and the road leg to your house.
Solid-wood export crates travel under ISPM 15, the international rule for wood packaging: heat treated or fumigated, and stamped. Plywood and engineered board are exempt, and your clearing agent confirms what your port expects. Inside the crate, carved and inlaid work is corner-protected and foam-blocked, glass and mirror are faced and crated separately, and every loose leg, back, shelf and fixing is bagged, labelled and named on the packing list.
One more lever, and you pull it at the start: ship once, not five times. Freight has fixed costs that repeat with every shipment — documents, customs entry, the clearing agent, terminal handling, the road leg. If you are furnishing a whole home, let us hold the pieces at the factory until the last one clears quality control, then send the lot. Cheaper per piece, and it all lands on one day in one condition. The same arithmetic in the other direction is worked line by line on our landed-cost calculator.
How a Commission Works When You Are Not in the Room
Seven steps, the same whether the address is in Coimbatore or Toronto. The only step that changes is the last one.
Send the room
Photographs, a floor plan or a CAD file, the ceiling height, and the city the furniture is going to. A sentence is enough to start.
We draw it
A general arrangement drawing — plan, elevation and section, every dimension in millimetres. You comment in writing.
You see the real material
We film your actual slab, veneer bundle and hides, wet and dry, and courier physical samples to you. A screen shifts colour. A sample in your hand does not.
You approve in writing
Nothing is cut before this. You get the final drawing set and a colour, material and finish schedule, dated.
We build it
In our own factory in India, ten departments under one roof. You get progress photographs from the joinery, polish and upholstery floors.
We check it against the drawing
Quality control asks one question: does what stands on the floor match what you approved? You get the QC photographs.
We crate it
Free to your door anywhere in mainland India. For export, packed for sea or air with the documents prepared and the freight quoted alongside the furniture.
The distance that worries people is not kilometres, it is hours. The factory runs 10am to 7pm IST, Monday to Saturday, Sunday by appointment. From Dubai that is the same working day; London, Nairobi and Singapore overlap widely; North America is the real gap, because our day ends around breakfast in New Jersey. So we work in writing and asynchronously — photographs and video land while you sleep and wait for you when you wake. We do not publish a delivery date before your design is final. Your timeline is written into your quote once it is, and we tell you when it changes.
Luxury Furniture Factory in India, Shipping Worldwide
Designatore ships from its own 80,000 sq ft factory in India to anywhere in the world. Nothing is subcontracted and nothing is bought in finished, so the piece that leaves the crating floor is the piece you approved on the drawing. Export packing and papers are handled here; freight is quoted per destination port, beside the furniture, in writing.
The export sideFurniture Export Manufacturer in India, From Our Floor to Your Port
Designatore is a furniture export manufacturer in India, which is a different thing from an export agent. The company that draws your piece, cuts it, polishes it and crates it is the company whose name is on the export documents. There is no trading house between you and the factory, so a question about a joint is answered by the people who cut it.
| On an export order | Who does it |
|---|---|
| Design, engineering and manufacture | Designatore, in its own 80,000 sq ft factory |
| Export packing and crating | Designatore — crates built for the piece, not bought to a size |
| Export documents | Designatore prepares them and they travel with the shipment |
| Tariff classification | Furniture sits in HS Chapter 94; the exact line depends on the piece |
| Freight to your port | Quoted per destination port, in writing, beside the furniture |
| Import duty and taxes | Paid by you, at your own country’s rate |
| Customs clearing and final mile | Your clearing agent at your port, arranged at the destination |
| Consolidation | We hold finished pieces at the factory and ship the whole home at once, which is cheaper per piece |
Free Inside India, Quoted Per Port Outside It
Two terms exist, and only two. This is the whole policy, side by side, so nobody reads a free-delivery headline and assumes it crosses an ocean.
| What it covers | Mainland India | Outside India |
|---|---|---|
| Delivery cost | Free, at every order value | Quoted per project, with the furniture |
| Minimum order | None | None, but one shipment is cheaper per piece |
| Crate and packing | Included | Export packing, included in the quote |
| Transit cover | Full value of the piece, included | Quoted with the freight |
| Paperwork | E-way bill and all documents, included | Export documents prepared by us |
| Freight | Road, to your door, paid by us | Sea or air, priced by destination port |
| Customs duty | None. It never crosses a border | Paid by you, at your country’s Chapter 94 rate |
| Customs clearing | None | Your local clearing agent, at your port |
| Final-mile delivery | To your door | From the port, arranged at the destination |
| The exception | Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep sail, billed at actual cost | Port rates change, so they are quoted, never published |
Every quote is written in both ₹ and $. You pay in stages — a design deposit to start, then agreed milestones as we build. The full India policy, including the island exception, is on the delivery page.
For Architects and Designers Sourcing From India
If you are specifying for a client’s project overseas, we build to your drawings. Send a scaled PDF or a dimensioned DWG and our CAD team turns it into shop drawings you approve before anything is cut. We work as the cabinetmaker behind the drawing — case goods, seating, tables, and the architectural millwork that has to match them — and we make all of it in one building, so the veneer on the panelling and the veneer on the sideboard come off the same flitch. We work for private homes, and for corporate offices and workplaces. We do not take hotel or restaurant work.
Your drawings stay yours. We sign an NDA on request at no charge, we do not reuse or resell a drawing, and we do not name a client without written consent — the whole pledge is on the client confidentiality page. The trade terms, the prototype route and the FF&E package are on the trade desk.
How to Check Us From 8,000 km Away
Check the company on the public registry first. The operating company is Designatore Luxury Furniture Private Limited, CIN U74109GJ2025PTC161877, registered in Gujarat, India. Designer Nidhi Patel founded the business in 2018 and has spent over thirty years designing interiors and spaces; Neyona Patel is a director. Older directory records still show a Gorwa address and a 2025 incorporation date — both are explained, in writing, on our company facts page.
Then check the building. The factory is 80,000 sq ft with ten departments under one roof — design, CNC, joinery, veneering, polish, upholstery, quality control and packing — and a team of 130 or more. It is operating today, not planned, and you or your family are welcome to walk it. Clients include Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini, named here with their permission. No other client is named without written consent.
Buying Furniture From India, Answered
Can I buy custom furniture in India and have it shipped to another country?
Yes. We make the piece to order in our own factory in India, crate it for sea or air, and prepare the export papers. Send your room photographs, a plan and the sizes, and name the destination city. Freight depends on your port, so we quote the furniture and the freight together before you commit.
Is delivery free if the furniture stays in India?
Yes, anywhere in mainland India, at any order value. Free covers the crate, the road freight to the door, transit cover for the full value of the piece, the e-way bill and all paperwork, and the GST on all of it. There is no minimum order. The Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep are the one exception: cargo sails and is billed at actual cost.
Who pays import duty on furniture shipped from India?
You do, in the destination country, at that country’s rate. Furniture has its own customs code — HS Chapter 94 — and every country sets its own duty rate against it. We do not quote foreign duty, and you should not accept a number from anyone who has not read your tariff line. Ask a local clearing agent to confirm the rate for your port before you order.
How do I approve a stone slab or a hide when I live abroad?
By seeing the real material, not a catalogue picture. We photograph and film your actual stone slab, veneer bundle and hides, wet and dry, with a scale rule in frame, and we courier physical samples to you. A screen shifts colour; a sample in your hand under your own light does not. Nothing is cut until your approval is in writing.
Can my family in India visit the factory for me?
Yes, and we encourage it. Our 80,000 sq ft factory in Gujarat is open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 7pm IST, and visitors are welcome. A parent, sibling or cousin can walk the ten departments, see your piece on the floor, touch the stone and the veneer, and call you from beside it.
How do I know the furniture will fit through my door?
Measure the route, not the room, and send it to us in millimetres with photographs. We need the front door’s clear opening, the lift car and its door, the staircase turn, the corridor width at every corner, and any low beam. Where the route is tight we engineer the piece to come apart and bolt together in the room.
Will furniture made in India crack in a dry, heated winter?
Not if we are told the destination before the drawing is signed. Wood swells and shrinks across the grain with humidity, and a centrally heated room in a Toronto or London winter is far drier than an Indian monsoon. A piece for that home needs seasoned timber, balanced panels and joinery detailed with room to move. Name your destination city in your first message.
Is one shipment cheaper than sending pieces one at a time?
Almost always, per piece. One consolidated shipment carries a single set of freight, documents, clearing and delivery charges, spread across everything inside it. Shipping piece by piece repeats those fixed costs each time. If you are furnishing a whole home, plan it as one shipment and let us hold the pieces at the factory until the full set is ready.
What happens if something arrives damaged or wrong?
Tell us on the day of delivery and send photographs before the crate is broken down. If a piece arrived damaged in transit, transit cover pays for it inside India and is quoted with the freight for export. If a piece does not match the drawing you approved, we correct it or remake it. Your dated approvals and the quality-control photographs are how we settle which of the two it is.
Do you export furniture from India, or only sell inside it?
Both. Designatore is a furniture export manufacturer in India: the same factory that builds for Indian homes and offices builds for buyers abroad, and the company that makes the piece is the company named on the export documents. We prepare the export packing and papers here, and quote freight per destination port.
What happens to my shipment at each end?
At our end: the piece is finished, checked, crated for export and handed to the line with its documents. At your end: your clearing agent enters it, you pay the import duty and taxes your country charges on HS Chapter 94 furniture, and the final leg from the port to your door is arranged locally. We quote the freight so there is no surprise between the two.
How do I check the company is real before I send money?
Look us up on the public registry. The operating company is Designatore Luxury Furniture Private Limited, CIN U74109GJ2025PTC161877, registered in Gujarat, India. Designer Nidhi Patel founded the business in 2018 and Neyona Patel is a director. The factory is 80,000 sq ft, with ten departments and a team of 130 or more, and you or your family can visit it.
Name the city. We will take it from there.
Send photographs of the room, a plan or a CAD file if you have one, and the city the furniture is going to. We answer within one working day, by WhatsApp, phone or email — whichever you asked for. Nothing is cut until you approve the drawing, and every quote is written in both ₹ and $.
