Is the carving done by hand?
Yes. Every acanthus leaf on the arches, the central boss and the feet is carved by hand in solid wood, then finished in antique gold through several stages. That is where the time in this piece goes.
How do I clean an onyx top?
A soft damp cloth and a mild, non-acidic cleaner. No vinegar, no lime, no bathroom sprays — acid etches onyx faster than it etches marble. Use coasters under vases and wipe water rings as they happen.
