The idea here is a single line broken once. Two taupe leather seat pads sit either side of a high-gloss ebony veneer block that runs right through the middle of the bench, and that break is what turns a plain rectangle into something worth looking at. The leather is soft-touch and stitched precisely down every seam, wrapped over rounded ends so there is no hard corner at shin height. The veneer is polished in stages to a mirror gloss, deep enough to read the striped grain from across the room. Short brushed brass legs pick up the warm tone in the wood. Made by hand in our India workshop, in your leather and your length.

Can I have this in fabric instead of leather?
Yes. Leather is what we photographed and it wears well on a bench that gets sat on with belts and buckles, but we build it in velvet or linen if you prefer.
How do I look after the gloss veneer?
A soft dry cloth for dust and a barely damp one for marks. Skip abrasive cleaners and never put a hot cup directly on it — the gloss coat is hard but not heatproof.
